Thomas Wolfe famously said 'you can't go home again'. But that isn't true when it comes to fabulous pizza.
At one time Pietro's was a regional chain with about 40 locations in Oregon and Washington. During 80s there were two in Yakima, where I grew up. Then slowly the chain wilted up. For a time I believe this was the sole remaining store. Now they are up to 4 stores.
While in Portland to see friends I also wanted to get reacquainted with this awesome pizza. And it didn't disappoint. With the first bite you think, "Yes! Just the way I remember it!" The crust has corn meal on the bottom which helps make it crisp. High quality ingredients + tasty crust = one fantastic pizza.
I went with a medium, half bartender (Canadian bacon, beef and fresh sliced tomatoes) and half Pietro's Combo (salami, pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, beef and green pepper). And had their fabulous salad bar with loads of stufg to create an awesome salad. Have to admit the blue cheese dressing was a bit generic, tasted odd. Besides a traditional soda fountain dispenser they have one of those Coke (TM) freestyle ones.
Staff were kind (especially appreciated one of them brought my plate of salad to the table since using a walker limits my ability to carry anything)
Men's room has narrow, hard to open door. Looks a bit worse for wear, maybe due for a remodel.
They have a ton of arcade games, so be prepared for some noise. Plus the sound system plays classic rock.
Great place for the kids or family gatherings. They also do delivery and take out. It was wonderful to find some great things don't change. -

This was one of my favorite spots when it comes to pizza satisfaction. Everything was great and had an ample amount of toppings that was really fresh and new. The crust was thin and I can feel a little bit of crunchiness in every bite. Wow! It was too awesome for me. I love tomatoes so I always ordered here the Combo with tomatoes and Shrimp Pizza. It was fantastic for me. I always got the great flavor and options of pizza.

Went in on this Saturday the 12th of Jan. birthday parties Galore! Crazy busy but I have to give kudos to the staff who work there. They knew how to handle the craziness with a great attitude.
Got myself a pizza to go for the playoff game they did it right, and just was so impressed with the attitude that the staff had. Just thought that was important when you think about your visit.
